 2.  Book 4

Crowley, Aleister Weiser Books 1980 877285136 Illustrated. Trade paperback

Magick, Liber ABA, Book 4 is widely considered to be the magnum opus of 20th century occultist Aleister Crowley, the founder of Thelema. It is a lengthy treatise on Magick, his system of Western occult practice, synthesized from many sources, including Eastern Yoga, Hermeticism, medieval grimoires, contemporary magical theories from writers like Eliphas Levi and Helena Blavatsky, and his own original contributions. It consists of four parts: Mysticism, Magick (Elementary Theory), Magick in Theory and Practice, and ?????? the Law (The Equinox of The Gods). It also includes numerous appendices presenting many rituals and explicatory papers. In November 1911, Crowley carried out a ritual during which he reports being commanded to write Book 4 by a discarnate entity named Abuldiz. This was duly accomplished at a villa in Posilippo near Naples, and was published in the winter of 1912-3. Liber ABA refers to this work being a part of Crowley's system of libers. In most systems where letters are given numerical value, ABA adds up to 4 (thus the name Book 4). Much of the book was dictated to several of Crowley's students, who would also ask questions to get clarification. The principal collaborators were Mary Desti, Leila Waddell, and Mary Butts, all of whom were given coauthorship credit.

 3.  Diary of a Drug Fiend

Crowley, Aleister Weiser Books 1977 877281467 Trade paperback

Diary of a Drug Fiend was Aleister Crowley's first published novel. To the reader of 1922 it presented a shocking look at a little know phenomenon. Today, while we are more familiar with drugs because of their widespread use in our culture, Diary of a Drug Fiend remains one of the most intense, detailed and accurate accounts of drug addiction and the drug experience.

 4.  Enochian World of Aleister Crowley: Enochian Sex Magick

Crowley, Aleister, and Hyatt, Christopher S, Ph.D., and DuQuette, Lon Milo Original Falcon Publications 2002 9.78E+12 4th printing Trade paperback

Many consider Enochiana the most powerful and least understood system of Western Occult practice. This book makes it truly accessible and easy to understand. Crowley's work was the launching pad for all that followed. Originally published in 1912, it rent the veil of the Inner Order of the Golden Dawn and revealed its most precious jewel for all to see. And now, for the first time, the reader is provided with instructions that bridge the gap between the material and spiritual worlds by integrating Enochiana with Sex Magick. Mr. DuQuette and Dr. Hyatt bring over forty years of practical experience in the field to show you how to start using this powerful system right now. Also includes an Enochian dictionary. Illustrated.

 5.  Rebels and Devils: The Psychology of Liberation

Hyatt, Christopher S, Ph.D., and Burroughs, William S, and Crowley, Aleister Original Falcon Publications 20002010 1935150340 / 9781935150343 3rd Revised Edition Trade paperback

"When he put the gun to my head at 16, I left home..." So begins Christopher Hyatt's "Prologue" to this remarkable book. Rebels & Devils brings together some of the most talented, controversial and rebellious people of our time. Many, such as Timothy Leary, William S. Burroughs, Robert Anton Wilson, Osho and Aleister Crowley, are world-famous. Other contributors, such as S. Jason Black, Joseph Matheny and Peter J. Carroll, though highly accomplished in their own fields, are not as well-known. Still others are lesser-known -- for now. But, every contributor, in every article, in every aspect of their lives, has had but one focus: to bring freedom to their world. In all of human history, the essence of the independent mind has been the need to think and act according to standards from within, not without: To follow one's own path, not that of the crowd. Inevitably, it follows that anyone with an independent mind must become "one who resists or opposes an authority or established convention": a rebel. Usually rebellion is done so quietly that no one notices. But, when others -- especially others with power -- recognize an individual's 'disobe dience,' the rebel becomes the REBEL. And, if enough people come to agree with -- and follow -- the REBEL, there becomes a DEVIL. Until, of course, still more people agree. And then, finally, there is ... GREATNESS.
